Phantom Power Supplies

Why do I need Phantom Power?

If you have a condensor microphone then you're going to need to make sure you have a way of getting power to it. Phantom Power is by far the most convenient method of achieving this.

Voltage is sent down the cable in order to feed the circuits inside a condensor microphone. This in turn powers the small microphone head allowing the audio signal to be amplified before it is sent to the audio equipment. Without this power these microphones simply wouldn't work, so it's very important to make sure you've got a power supply that will cover the voltage your microphone requires.

Here are the questions you should ask yourself before buying your phantom power supply:
  • Does it supply the voltage required by my microphone?
  • Do I need a single channel supply or a dual channel?
  • Will I need additional microphone leads?
If you're looking for a phantom power supply then look no further...

Not just for microphones

Phantom Power isn't only applicable to microphones, it can be used to power other devices as well. Some DI boxes can be powered this way, and even broadcast microphones with halo LED's may use phantom power in order to indicate the broadcast state.

If you'd like to check out a more in depth introduction to phantom power then please take the time to check out our blog here. Don't forget that you can contact our sales team as well who will be happy to help answer any further questions you may have.

We'd also recommend checking out our microphone leads, as you'll likely need one or two extra ones for use with your phantom power supply.
