About TOA WT-D5800 UHF (G01 - CH38) Digital Receiver

The TOA D-5000 system that utilises the TOA WT-D5800 receiver uses digital transmission which provides many advantages over analogue systems. You're no longer limited to a handful of simultaneous channels and encrypted audio signals offer the perfect solution for those confidential applications. The more accurate transmission frequencies also result in less inter-modulation between frequencies; basically this is how they can get so many channels operating at the same time without any of them interfering with each other.

The receiver also has some great technical and user enhancements to make your life easier. Battery status is shown on the receiver to let you know the status of the microphone batteries and there are even contacts on the back that can be used for external activation of equipment to show low battery status and microphone activation. These are all great but our favourite feature is the built in feedback suppressor which means no more howling or squealing from your sound system and no need for the additional expense of additional control equipment, TOA have put it all in one box for you.

Some additional features include:

  • Frequency channel scan
  • Feedback suppressing
  • Built-in optimised preset equalisation in microphones
  • Detachable antenna
  • Audio mixing with cascading voice input connectivity
  • Antenna mixing with cascading antenna connectivity
  • Intuitive LCD display

The D-5000 system operates in the Channel 38 UHF band between 606MHz and 636MHz so will need a licence in the UK. The receiver unit has a frequency response of 50 Hz - 12 kHz which is of course a perfect match for the WM-D5200 and WM-D5300 microphones that go with the receiver unit.

There's no need to be afraid of embracing the new digital technology as the wireless receiver includes an environment channel-scanning function to show what channels can be used in your application and therefore ensuring that multiple systems in simultaneous use do not interfere with one another.

Audio setup is simple too and the receiver has an AF peak lamp indicating when the output level reaches the point of clipping or distortion, this is approximately 3 dB below the clipping level.

Compatibility with your sound system will not be an issue as the audio output options includes a selectable balanced XLR connector for both microphone and line level systems, as well as an unbalanced 6.3 mm (1/4") phone jack connector.

In addition to all this physical equipment there's also maintenance software for easy setup, configuration and system monitoring thrown in too. That's great of course but what does the software do?

Well let us tell you:

  • Simultaneous status check of up to 16 receivers
  • Walk-Test function: to check antennas reception level within the environment where the microphone is to be used.
  • Channel Scan displaying unused frequency channels.
  • Spectrum Scan visualises the level and frequency of undesired signals in the specified frequency range.

The receiver is powered from an AC mains adaptor that comes with the kit and you'll get two whip antennas too. For larger systems you may need antenna distribution equipment including the WD-5800 and YW-4500.

The finish of the receiver unit is black resin and it measures 210(W) x 44(H) x 211.9(D) mm or approx. 8.¼" x 1.¾" x 8.½" in imperial measurements. Weighing only 730 g (1.61 lb.) it will fit no problem on a desk, small shelf or by rack mounting with the MBWT-3 or MBWT-4 mounting kits.
